Multiple Group One winner Gingernuts has returned to the Werribee University Clinic.
“Despite looking well and outwardly appearing in great shape, the veterinary team overseeing his recovery have become concerned over a possible infection developing as a result of the surgery,” Te Akau said in a statement.
Gingernuts suffered a serious pastern injury when cantering to the start of the Gr.1 Emirates Stakes (2000m) at Flemington and following surgery he was discharged a week ago to a rehabilitation spelling farm.
“He will remain at the University Clinic until at least the end of the week,” Te Akau said.
