Co-trainer Kenny Rae is upbeat about Kaharau’s chances in Saturday’s Gr.3 Christchurch Casino New Zealand Cup (3200m).
“He's a real live chance. I worked him myself this morning and he's going super,” Rae said.
“Last year we were trying to catch up after he missed a run through a couple of meeting abandonments, but he's right where I want him this year and he showed that with his win at Motukarara the other day.
“Outside Pentathlon, it's not the strongest Cup field you'd ever see.”
The winner of two of his last four starts, Kaharau will be ridden by Alysha Collett.
