In race nine of the 10-race card at Sha Tin tomorrow night, the Class 3 Panasonic Front Loading Washing Machine Handicap (1600m), Chad Schofield is booked to continue a successful partnership with the Richard Gibson-trained Rattan (NZ), drawn widest of all in gate 14.
The Savabeel gelding, top-weight on Saturday with 132lb, has won both of his starts this campaign, taking his Hong Kong record to three wins from eight races.
“He’s taken it to a new level this season,” the jockey said. “His wins have been quite effortless, really. He hasn’t been winning by big margins but he’s been doing it very well.
“The draw makes it quite tricky but with the big weight and the draw we’re going to see where he’s at because it’s not going to be easy for him. He’s a horse with a lot of class and I expect him to go much higher in the ratings.”
Saturday’s action starts at 1pm with the Class 5 Panasonic It Stick Type Vacuum Cleaner Handicap (1400m) and concludes with the Class 3 Panasonic Mini Ice Handicap (1400m) at 5.45pm.
