Apprentice Alex Shin celebrated his first winner on Thursday.
The 22-year-old’s special moment came at his 10th race day ride when he guided The Great Guru to victory in the Vets on Riverbank Handicap (2200m) at Otaki.
“I’m working as hard as I can and that was awesome,” he said.
Shin spent time with Chad Ormsby before joining Roydon Bergerson’s stable and he also regularly rides work for Awapuni trainers Gary Vile, The Great Guru’s conditioner Lisa Latta and at Kamada Park.
