Jason Waddell posted a highly emotional victory at Te Awamutu this afternoon.
The accomplished jockey wore a black arm band aboard Grosvenor Bridge to mark the passing on Tuesday of his mother and he blew a kiss skyward as he returned to scale with the debut winner.
Waddell will ride at Avondale on Friday and at Riccarton on Saturday where his mounts include the Gr.1 Al Basti Equiworld New Zealand 2000 Guineas (1600m) hope Ever Loyal.
