Smart four-year-old Odeon has come right following a couple of indifferent displays to open his current campaign.
The New Zealand-bred son of Zacinto returned to winning form over 1700m at Caulfield two runs back and on Melbourne Cup day he struck again in the Listed James Boag’s Premium Stakes (1800m).
“He stayed down in the weights which suited him,” said Matt Ellerton, who trains the gelding with Simon Zahra. “He could go to both the Eclipse and the Ballarat Cup, but there’s a few options for him.”
Odeon has won three of his six starts and last term he also finished third in the Gr.1 South Australian Derby (2500m).
