Alysha Collett will be reunited with Prom Queen in next month’s Gr.1 gavelhouse.com New Zealand Bloodstock 1000 Guineas (1600m) at Riccarton.
Suspension cost the Pukekohe-based jockey the ride when the filly ran away with the Gr.3 Barneswood Farm Stakes (1400m) at Ashburton where cousin Samantha ably deputised.
“It was disappointing to miss the ride, but it was a one off,” said Collett, who doesn’t doubt Prom Queen’s ability to run a strong mile. “It was good to see her win like she did though and run a good time.”
She has ridden the daughter of Super Easy in six of her eight wins, including the Gr.3 Northland Breeders’ Stakes (1200m), the Listed Champagne Stakes (1200m) and the Listed Welcome Stakes (1000m).
