Leading jockey Lisa Allpress will undergo MRI scans next week to further assess the damage on her shoulders that she injured in a jump-out fall at Hawera last week.
Allpress injured the AC joint on her left shoulder and sprained her right shoulder after her mount tripped over a fallen horse and dumped her to the turf.
She was referred for the scans by an orthopaedic specialist she visited this week.
"I'm still pretty sore, but I've been doing hydrotherapy and visited an acupuncturist and I feel a lot better. There's been massive improvement in my left shoulder," Allpress said.
The two-time national premiership winner hopes to return to race day riding by Christmas.
