Guy Lowry and Grant Cullen are rethinking future plans for Wait A Sec in the wake of his upset Gr.1 Livamol Classic (2040m) victory.
The Hastings trainers had been keen on a crack at the Gr.3 Christchurch Casino New Zealand Cup (3200m), but Sunday’s success in their home town weight-for-age feature has now made the trip to Riccarton unlikely.
“He hasn’t got much to prove and we’ll make a decision in the next few days,” Lowry said.
“He’s pulled up well and he’s a happy horse. The Auckland Cup at set weights and penalties looks a better race for him.”
