Espumoso ran up to expectations at Te Aroha on Wednesday when posting a debut success.

The Pins youngster appreciated the improved Dead 4 conditions to account for the favourite Dublin Rose in the NZB Insurance Pearl Series Race (1000m).

“He trialled really well on a track at Avondale that was too wet for him,” said Andrew Forsman, who trains the juvenile with Murray Baker. “He’s got a good action and on a better track we thought he would be hard to beat.”

Espumoso, who is from the family of the Group One winners Sacred Star and Diademe, was ridden by Matt Cameron.

“Once I gave him one with the stick he let down really well,” he said. “He’s a nice horse and going to make a lovely three-year-old.”
