Exciting colt Embellish will follow a programme to the Gr.1 Al Basti Equiworld New Zealand 2000 Guineas (1600m) that trainers Stephen Autridge and Jamie Richards have already experienced success with.
“He’ll go to Trentham next on October 28 and we’ve taken that path before with Xtravagant,” Richards said.
Now at stud in New South Wales, Xtravagant won at Wellington before his runaway victory in the 2015 Guineas at Riccarton.
Meanwhile, a start in the classic for Embellish’s unbeaten stablemate Te Akau Shark has yet to be confirmed.
“He’s bright and happy, but we haven’t made a decision if we head to the Guineas,” Richards said.
