Dame on Oaks path

Reliable Dame
Reliable Dame

Reliable Dame’s (NZ) (Reliable Man) best result in her first four race day starts prior to today’s win was a sixth placing as a two-year-old over 1400 metres, despite this the Freedman stable has always believed she was an Oaks filly.

The daughter of Reliable Man scored her maiden victory today at Ballarat over the 1600m trip, a win that has put the Group One Victoria Oaks back on her agenda.

When asked if she was heading towards the Oaks, Anthony Freedman’s Racing Manager Brad Taylor reported that it could still be an achievable target.

“We did early (have Oaks aspirations) but her first two starts this prep put us off a little bit, we did pay up last time so she is still in there so we will see how she goes from here”.

Successful rider Luke Currie believes she could push on towards the Fillies Classic on November 9.

“There is no reason off that (performance) why she couldn’t go that way, she did it pretty easy in the end”.

“She does still have a bit to learn but she is definitely a nice staying filly”

The filly purchased by Anthony Freedman from the 2016 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale for $155,000 is raced in the Musk Creek Farm colours who own a majority share in partnership with a number of long time stable clients.

All going well, Reliable Dame will join stable-mate Think Diamonds in the Group Three Ethereal Stakes over 2000 metres at Caulfield on October 21 in her next race day appearance.
