Stephen Marsh was unusually on edge before Bevan Street stepped out for the first time at Taupo on Friday.
The Cambridge trainer prepares the four-year-old for his parents Bruce and Kay and a family celebration was in order after success in the Taupo Hire 1000.
“I know it was only a maiden race, but I was quite nervous,” Marsh said. “He’s the first horse I’ve had for Mum and Dad.”
The winner of both of his autumn trials, Bevan Street raced keenly early on under Danielle Johnson before she let him improve near the turn and the son of Road To Rick rounded off well in the straight.
“He’s got heaps of improvement in him,” Marsh said. “I think he’s got a big future.” – NZ Racing Desk.
