The former Johno Benner and Hollie Wynyard-trained Humidor is the highest-weighted New Zealand-bred in this year’s Gr.1 Melbourne Cup.
Now in Darren Weir’s stable, the Gr.1 Australian Cup winner was allotted 56kg behind the topweight Order Of St George on 58kg. Last year’s Cup winner Almandin was allotted 56.5kg, a 4.5kg rise on the 52kg he carried to victory last November.
The Stephen Autridge and Jamie Richards-prepared dual Group One winner Gingernuts has 55kg while Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman’s Gr.1 ATC Derby winner Jon Snow has 54.5kg. His dual Oaks-winning stablemate Bonneval has 52.5kg.
Past placegetter Who Shot Thebarman received 54kg, a kilo more than Stephen Marsh’s Gr.2 Brisbane Cup winner Chocante.
