Dual Oaks winner Bonneval has been given 52.5kg in this year’s Gr.1 Caulfield Cup.
It is the same weight carried to victory by last year’s winner Jameka, a four-year-old mare with a similar profile.
Trained by Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman, Bonneval opened her spring campaign in sizzling style last Saturday when she won the Gr.2 Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes. Bonneval’s stablemate Jon Snow has 54.5kg in the Caulfield feature while Lizzie L’Amour has 51.5kg.
Te Akau’s Gingernuts, dual Group One winner of the New Zealand Derby and Rosehill Guineas, has been allotted 55kg, the Stephen Marsh-trained Chocante has 53kg and barn mate Sofia Rosa has been given 52kg.
The Caulfield Cup weights are headed by Hartnell on 58kg.
