Waller sticking to tried and true approach

Chris Waller will follow a proven path with New Zealand-owned stayer Alward toward the Gr.1 The Metropolitan on September 30.

Managed by Albert Bosma’s Go Racing syndication company, the Irish-bred four-year-old is unbeaten in two Australian starts and he will follow the route taken last year by stablemate Antonio Guiseppe and step out seven days before the Randwick feature.

“Antonio Giuseppe won a 2000 metre race and we backed him up a week later and he ran second in the Metrop,” Waller said.
