Alward is racing the clock in a bid to earn a crack at the Gr.1 Metropolitan Handicap at the end of next month.
Raced by New Zealand syndication company Go Racing, the Irish-bred stayer was a runaway winner at Flemington and he will press for higher honours if he can make a successful Sydney debut in Saturday’s Pacific Boating Handicap at Rosehill.
“He couldn't have been any more impressive in winning that last start,” trainer Chris Waller said.
“He could be a lightweight chance in the Metrop if he keeps progressing. He's probably running out of time, but you need to keep that dream alive.”
