I Got You is likely to be tested in stronger company during the Hawke’s Bay spring carnival.
Trainers Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman were given good reason to lift their sights with the three-year-old after he impressively opened his account in the Telperion Sprint at Taupo on Friday.
“We’ve always thought he had a lot of ability so we’re glad to see him do the job like that,” Forsman said.
“There’s a Listed race (El Roca Sprint) in a couple of weeks at Hastings, but we’ll see how he comes through this one first. He’s still a bit immature.
“Hopefully he can stretch to a mile this campaign as it gives you options here in New Zealand.”
In his only other appearance, I Got You finished fourth in last season’s Listed Reid & Harrison Sprint at Matamata before he was turned out.
