Stakes performer Blizzard has started his latest campaign in fine fashion.
The grey son of Any Suggestion looked sharp when he led all the way to beat the Group Two winner Coldplay in a 1000 metre trial at Te Teko on Tuesday.
“He went really well. I was quite surprised, I thought he would get a bit tired,” said David Browne, who trains the gelding with his wife Emma-Lee.
“He’s a funny horse – he gets a bit confused and doesn’t know whether he’s a sprinter or a stayer. He’ll probably kick off on Pakuranga Hunt day at Ellerslie, there’s a race there for him over 1200m.”
Twice a black type placegetter, Blizzard has won six races from 1400m to 2500m and ran fourth over 3200m in a Gr.3 New Zealand Cup.
