Unsuitable track conditions contributed to the last-start downfall of the smart mare Art Deco in the Listed Opunake Cup.
“She didn’t go in the holding ground,” trainer Allan Sharrock said. “She’s having a week off and then she’ll run in an open sprint as a lead-up to the Merial Metric Mile.”
Art Deco has won five of her 15 starts and her seventh placing at New Plymouth last Sunday was the first time she has failed to return a cheque.
