A setback has disrupted the spring preparation of the stakes performer Aquilo.
“He’s been held up by a hoof issue which has taken a while to come right,” said Jamie Richards, who trains with Stephen Autridge. “He’s doing some work on the treadmill, but he won’t be ready for Hawke’s Bay.”
Aquilo was a winner at Rotorua in April before he finished third in the Listed Waikato Equine Veterinary Centre Stakes.
“He’s a very good horse and he’s been gelded since last racing,” Richards said.
