Expatriate New Zealand trainer John Sargent holds debut winner Luvaluva in the highest regard.
He produced the Kiwi-bred daughter of Mastercraftsman for an impressive victory at Goulburn on Monday and his thoughts immediately turned to the Melbourne spring carnival.
Sargent won the GR.1 VRC Oaks with Kirramosa in 2013 and the following year Thunder Lady finished runner-up and it is the Flemington fillies’ classic that he believes Luvaluva will be ideally-suited to.
“Fillies like this only come around every couple of years and I think she is top class,” he said.
