Smart filly Showtenaire’s first crack at black type has been delayed.
A winner and twice placed from three starts, she will bypass the Listed Ryder Stakes with the Listed O’Leary’s Fillies’ Stakes at Wanganui early next season her first three-year-old target.
“When she won at Auckland the very heavy track took its toll a bit,” said Debbie Sweeney, who trains with her father Graeme Sanders.
“She had been in work for a long time and deserved a freshen up. She’s having a spell and when she comes back she’ll head toward Wanganui.”
