Haunui Farm's shuttle stallion Iffraaj added to his Group One tally on the opening day of the Royal Ascot carnival overnight when his son Ribchester posted a track record breaking win in the Queen Anne Stakes.

Previously successful at the highest level in the Prix Jacques le Marois at Deauville and the Lockinge Stakes, the Richard Fahey-trained and Godolphin-owned four-year-old produced a stirring performance under jockey William Buick to run the mile in a new mark of 1.36.60.

"Ribchester is just an exceptional horse," Fahey said. "He has to be the best horse I have ever trained.

"The Sussex Stakes is where he has to go next really. The French race (Prix Jacques Le Marois) which he won last year, is only 10 days after the Sussex so we can't go to both. I was always hoping that he would stay further but at the moment, I don't need to go further."
