Leith Innes has been suspended after stewards completed an inquiry into interference in the Gr.1 Stradbroke Handicap.

Innes, who rode Counterattack in the race at Doomben on June 10, was charged with causing interference to Patrick Moloney on Kaepernick in the straight.

The inquiry was adjourned when Moloney left the course without telling stewards and he was later fined $400 for disobeying a direction to stay on the track.

Innes had asked that the inquiry be finalised via Skype as he did not expect to return to Queensland in the near future, but he then elected to return to ride Save The Date, who won at the Sunshine Coast on Sunday.

Stewards reopened the inquiry and after hearing a transcript of Moloney's evidence, Innes pleaded guilty and was suspended for 12 days. Additionally, at Ruakaka on Saturday, Innes received a four-day suspension for careless riding on Jiayuguan.
