Monday's fortnightly gavelhouse.com New Zealand auction reached several major milestones including a new record price of $211,000.

A total of 40 lots were sold for a clearance rate of 93% with the aggregate climbing to $587,800 and largely attributed to some quality bloodstock sold by Gartshore Bloodstock.

The record price of $211,000 was paid for the Pins mare Ampin in foal to Waikato Stud's Savabeel. At Lot 31 she was purchased by respected bloodstock agent John Foote in his first foray into buying online.

Foote also purchased the second top Lot of the night with the Savabeel weanling colt out of Ampin at Lot 1 fetching $110,000 and now destined for Darren Weir's stables.

"Ampin is typical of her sire Pins, she comes from a good pedigree and when we flew over to inspect her she was in great order" said John Foote.

"We also liked her Savabeel colt who was a strong type and moved well."

While getting used to the new concept of purchasing a horse online Foote commented "It's a great concept.

"If what's on offer is the sort of horse you're looking for it's just a matter of buying them wherever and whenever they are available."

In a little over a year 531 horses and almost $3.1 million has been traded via the gavelhouse.com NZ site since it launched in April 2016.

Sales and Marketing Manager Haylie Martin attributes much of the site's success to not only the revolutionary trading model but also the high level of collaboration with the team at parent company New Zealand Bloodstock.

"Working closely with the bloodstock team at New Zealand Bloodstock has enabled us to provide a level of expertise and advice that's second to none in the online space in terms of valuations, reaching buyers and ultimately achieving the best outcomes for our customers."

Entries for the gavelhouse.com's next New Zealand auction are now open and will close on Monday 19 June at 7pm. The catalogue will be launched at 5pm on Tuesday 20 June and bidding will close from 7pm on Monday 26 June.

The friendly and helpful gavelhouse.om NZ team are available to assist customers whether selling or buying (09 296 4436) while July will see the return of the gavelhouse.com's 'bucket full of cash' prize draw for vendors that sell on the site in the month.
