Opie Bosson will not be riding at next Sunday's Queen Elizabeth II Cup meeting in Singapore after he was slapped with an 11-day suspension on Saturday.
The New Zealand jockey was already granted a one-day licence to ride at the feature meeting, including the Stephen Gray-trained Newlands in the QEII Cup (1800m) itself, but a careless riding ban incurred at Eagle Farm on Saturday will see him miss the Singapore assignment.
Bosson, who is currently busy at the Brisbane Winter Carnival, will miss the Queensland Oaks meeting on Saturday as well.
The 36-year-old began the Eagle Farm meeting on a high note after landing the Gr.2 BRC Sires' Produce Stakes (1400m) aboard Melody Belle, but incurred the wrath of the Stewards for his ride aboard Egyptian Symbol in the Group 3 Glenlogan Park Stakes (1300m).
The report said that Bosson "allowed his mount to shift out when not fully clear of Manaya, resulting in that runner having to be checked and blundering near the 400m". The Stewards were of the opinion that the incident was in the midrange level of carelessness.
With that latest twist, Gray has one week to find a new jockey for Newlands.
