Trainer Rudy Liefting believes Joey Jonz may still have something to offer on the flat.
He has a jumping career in mind for the seven-year-old this winter, but he won't be surprised by a bold first-up showing in the Shamrock Group 1600 on Saturday.
"He's got a good record at Ellerslie and it's a claiming race so he'll get four kilos off," Liefting said. "He's sound and he's had a hurdle trial as well.
"I've been looking after his legs and he's good to go now the rain has come."
To be ridden by Rebecca Scott, Joey Jonz has won seven races with four of them at Auckland.
