Haunui Farm shuttle stallion Showcasing was represented by Gr.2 Duke of York Stakes (1200m) winner Tasleet on Wednesday, when the William Haggas-trained galloper trounced his rivals at York, in England's North.
The four-year-old entire has now won five of his 10 starts and handled the rain-affected track in good style.
"He's a very talented horse, but I always thought he wanted fast ground," Haggas said. "He's been a relatively sound horse, but he did have a bad injury to a hind ankle which took a long time to come right. He was a talented horse and difficult to criticise at two and is obviously versatile. He's got stronger and looks like a sprinter now."
The Gr.1 Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot on June 24 is the next target for Tasleet.
One of 15 stakes winners worldwide for Showcasing, Tasleet is a prime example of Showcasing's ability to upgrade his mares with all 15 out of non-stakes winners or stakes producers. Interestingly, Showcasing's tally of 15 stakes winners puts him ahead of fellow Haunui stallion Iffraaj, at the same stage of his career.
Showcasing will stand at Haunui Farm in 2017 for a fee of $12,000 + GST.
