Dual Group One winner Gingernuts has returned to the Matamata stable of Stephen Autridge and Jamie Richards to commence a slow build-up towards a potentially lucrative spring campaign.

The New Zealand Derby and Rosehill Guineas hero will be aimed at the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups in the spring and has returned from a month's spell at Te Akau Stud 50 kilograms heavier.

"He thrived during his time out on the farm and returned to the stable on Monday," Te Akau principal David Ellis said.

"We are looking forward to taking him to Melbourne for the spring carnival for the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups."

Ellis said he was delighted with the global success of the Te Akau operation, with Mark Walker leading the Singapore Trainers' Premiership, while the Autridge and Richards combination are the leading New Zealand stable by prizemoney and enjoyed Group success in Australia again last weekend when Shocking Luck won the Gr.3 Rough Habit Plate.
