New Zealand Horse Of The Year Jimmy Choux tasted success in the highly competitive Japanese market on the weekend when his three-year-old son Cosmo Peridot (NZ) scored his maiden victory in Tokyo.
Having just his fourth raceday start Cosmo Peridot made it win number one with a neck victory over 1400 metres.
Bred by Richard and Liz Wood's Chouxmaani investments from their Testa Rossa mare Diva Von Tessa, Cosmo Peridot was a $210,000 purchase by well-known Japanese racing and breeding operation Big Red Farm from the Lime Country Thoroughbreds draft at the 2016 Select Sale at Karaka.
Big Red Farm is owned and operated by the Okada family, who are regular visitors to New Zealand and have one of the more successful racing and breeding operations in Japan.
