Jimmy Rea and Melody Belle are making good progress toward their Queensland debuts at Eagle Farm on Saturday week.
They were both in action at the Deagon trials on Tuesday with Jimmy Rea finishing fourth in his 1050m heat and Melody Belle finishing second in her heat over the same distance.
"I was very pleased with both of them," said Jamie Richards, who trains in partnership with Stephen Autridge. "Jimmy Rae will take good improvement and should really start to thrive in the next couple of weeks with the sun on his back. The trial will bring Melody Belle on nicely too."
The immediate aim for Jimmy Rea is a $A60,000 Benchmark 95 sprint, while Melody Belle will tackle the Gr.2 Sires' Produce Stakes (1400m).
