Successful Southland owner Bill Hazlett died peacefully on Sunday.
Hazlett enjoyed numerous successes, none more so than with the jumper Kidunot, whose nine wins from Ellis Winsloe's Gore stable included the Great Northern Hurdles at Ellerslie.
He also raced the well-performed flat galloper Relampago, a two-time Listed Invercargill Cup winner.
Hazlett was at the Riverton races four days before his death to watch his jumper, Tai Ho, compete in the Hazlett Contracting Steeplechase.
