The former Chris Wood-trained galloper Dark Universe will step out at Rosehill on Saturday when he tackles the Freshmark Handicap (1200m) for his new connections and trainer Chris Waller.
Now named New Universe, the Darci Brahma gelding won his first two starts at Dargaville and at Te Rapa before he finished fifth behind the subsequent Group One winner Hall Of Fame at Ellerslie.
"His trial was good and he had a jumpout for us and did that really nicely," said Chris Waller's Racing Manager Charlie Duckworth.
"The barrier makes it a bit awkward from 14, but with a good rider like Tommy Berry engaged, especially with many of the other senior riders going to the Gold Coast or Adelaide this weekend, he looks a good chance."
