Dynamo will take his first step toward a Group goal when he resumes at the Counties meeting on Friday.

The five-year-old, who is adept on rain-affected going, will make a fresh start in the Happy 65th Birthday Malcolm Wrigley.

"He's just about where we want him for his first-up run, he's got a long winter ahead of him," trainer Brendon Hawtin said.

"He's been off the scene for a long time, but he's had a jump-out and he'll run well.

"We'll give him a few runs around here and if everything goes to plan I would like to get him into the Winter Cup on a nice weight."

The winner of four of his 15 races, Dynamo will be partnered at Pukekohe Park by Sam Spratt, whose only previous ride on the Fully Fledged gelding resulted in success at Te Awamutu last winter.

Meanwhile, stablemate Quantum will also return to action at Te Rapa on Saturday in the Topsoil & Sand Supplies 1200.

"He trialled well a couple of weeks ago – he won an open heat at Te Awamutu and he's coming up nicely," Hawtin said. "He's forward enough to go a really good race."

Quantum was a winner and placed at Listed level as a juvenile and was spelled after two early season three-year-old appearances.

"He ran second in the Great Northern Foal Stakes, but he didn't come back that well afterwards so we put him aside and he's bigger and stronger now," Hawtin said. – NZ Racing Desk.
