Craig Phelan knows the family of the progressive Big Mike well and how to get the best out of them.
The Cambridge trainer has produced the four-year-old to win two of his six starts, the latest of them a tenacious victory at Ellerslie on Saturday.
"We'll probably go back there on May 27 for another mile," Phelan said. "We've just had to be patient with him, he was quite babyish earlier on and the penny's dropped with him now.
"He's a three-quarter brother to Oforawesome, who we sold to OTI in Australia. He won three for them and then went up to North Queensland and he won nine all told."
Oforawesome placed in his first two starts for Phelan and his maiden success at Taupo then prompted his sale.
