Young stayer on the up Ercolano boosts dam’s appeal on gavelhouse.com

Herculaneum
Herculaneum

Ercolano's eye-catching performance at Doomben on Wednesday provided a timely update for his dam Herculaneum who is currently part of the 35-Lot catalogue being auctioned on gavelhouse.com.

At Lot 25, Herculaneum is an Elusive City half-sister to Gr.1 Brisbane Cup winner Art Success (Pentire) with Ercolano (Pentire) the second winner she's produced.

Offered in foal to Gr.1 Australian Guineas winner Ferlax (Pentire), with an early September service date, the resulting foal would be a three-quarter sibling to Ercolano with trainer Tony Gollan mentioning post-race the Gr.1 Queensland Derby a likely target for the promising Karaka graduate.

Herculaneum is part of a couple of interesting consignments featured in the latest gavelhouse.com New Zealand fortnightly auction that runs until 7pm (NZ time) this Monday 20 March.

The untimely loss of young sire Ferlax (Pentire) has prompted the sale of Herculaneum among some of GSA Bloodstock's other New Zealand-based stock. The Danehill mare Celadon, also in foal to Ferlax, is another highlight being a daughter of stakes-winning Zabeel mare Crimson. She is a three quarter sibling to Abidewithme (Redoute's Choice) and a half to Miss Scarlatti (Stravinsky) and has produced six to race for six winners.

In addition to plenty of empty mares to store away for early services in the spring, mares in foal to other sires including Dalghar, Jakkalberry, Niagara, Pins and Roc de Cambes feature.

Meanwhile Little Avondale Stud have taken the opportunity to sell on shares they hold with life-time breeding rights to Darci Brahma, Road to Rock and Hallmark Studs promising young sire Super Easy.
