Southern filly Zigwig confirmed her spot in the Gr.1 Wellfield New Zealand Oaks on Saturday week with a strong win over ground at Ashburton.
The Inglewood Stud-bred and owned daughter of their resident sire Zacinto stepped up to a middle distance for the first time on Thursday and easily put away her older rivals.
"It's nice when a plan comes off and we'll head to Trentham now and see what she's made of," said stud manager Gus Wigley, whose father Nick trains Zigwig.
