Boots 'N' All and Volcano look well-placed to provide Lance Robinson with another near perfect result, this time at Ashburton on Thursday.
The former held the upper hand when the Riccarton stablemates squared off on their home track earlier this month and their trainer again finds them hard to split in the RD Petroleum 1400.
"Both of them have done well since the other day and they have both got good barrier draws so I'm sure they will run nicely again – there's little between them," Robinson said.
The telling factor could be the underfoot conditions with a good track vital for Volcano to have a chance of turning the tables.
"He's a typical Volksraad, you only have to spit on the track and he goes half pace," Robinson said.
"He'll run well if the track is okay. For some reason he likes Ashburton and he's just about got a cheque every time he's gone there."
Alysha Collett will continue her association on Thursday with the seven-year-old, a genuine performer with seven career wins to his credit.
Boots 'N' All, again the mount of Samantha Wynne, has fashioned the tidy record of four wins and nine placings from his 16 appearances.
"He's a young horse on the way up," Robinson said. "The only time he's run at Ashburton he never got a clear run at them."
He also rates the last-start runner-up Still Waters a good each way chance in the Ecolab Rating 65.
"She's been working well and I'm really happy with her. She's got a good draw and she should be competitive again," Robinson said. - NZ Racing Desk.
