A clearance rate of 86% and turnover of just over $100,000 in the most recent gavelhouse.com New Zealand fortnightly online auction highlights what a valuable addition to the thoroughbred trading landscape the site is.
In less than 12 months in business as an online auction site, a total of 312 horses have sold via gavelhouse.com New Zealand while over $1.9million worth of bloodstock has changed hands.
"As we approach our first birthday we're thrilled with the results we are consistently achieving for our users whether it be exceeding price expectations or just providing an avenue for people to cut costs and move horses on in a more timely manner," commented Sales and Marketing Manager Haylie Martin.
"Our user-base is still growing exponentially and it's great to see people right across the age spectrum getting confidence in buying and selling online."
Of the 32 Lots sold last night, the highest price paid was $20,000 for a quality two-year-old colt by champion sire O'Reilly. On account of Brighthill Farm at Lot 8, he is from the Redoute's Choice mare Baheeya who is a half-sister to Group One place-getter Solid Choice.
Having suitably impressed buyers in his two trials to date there was plenty of competition on him with the winning bidder planning to race him in New Zealand.
Other highlights included Brighthill Farm's Lot 1, a weanling colt by Dalghar, fetching $9,500 to Hallmark Stud while Lot 11, a two year old Zed gelding on account of The Oaks Stud, and Lot 31, a three-in-one package, both fetched $8,000 each to a Singapore-based buyer who took home a total of 11 lots on the night.
