Sound Proposition passed his test at the Avondale trials last Tuesday and is on track for a Group One assignment on Saturday week.
The Savabeel five-year-old suffered a cardiac arrhythmia when tailing the field home in the Gr.1 Zabeel Classic at Ellerslie on Boxing Day, but his performance for second behind Rising Shot in a four-horse trial at Avondale convinced his connections he is back on the right track.
"He trialled well so it's all go for the Bonecrusher (NZ) Stakes next Saturday," said co-trainer Andrew Scott. "He should be a good chance in it and if he goes well he could go back for the Easter Handicap.
"But because he's had the heart fibrillation we're taking it one race at a time."
Sound Proposition has only raced three times since he won last year's Gr.1 Easter Stakes.
