A setback has ruled Group One-placed Sweepstake out of the New Zealand Oaks, but trainer Mike Breslin is looking forward to a spring campaign with the daughter of Per Incanto.
"She's had a bone-chip operation and is half-way through her rehabilitation," Breslin said.
"We discovered one fragment had broken off after her first-up run at Trentham (January 7). On the way she was going beforehand I thought she would easily win that day."
Sweepstake finished third behind La (Bella) Diosa in the Gr.1 New Zealand 1000 Guineas last November and had been a winner and twice placed previously.
