Weissmuller continued the country cups run for apprentice Danielle Hirini and trainer Kevin Myers when winning the $30,000 Affco NZ Ltd Wairoa Cup on Sunday.
Hirini has won the last two runnings of the Poverty Bay Cup on Weissmuller's stablemate Scapolo and has now ridden 11 winners for Myers. She took Weissmuller to the front and had him travelling well coming to the home turn then kicked him clear to win by a length and three-quarters from Francis Drake.
It was Weissmuller's eighth win from 39 starts and followed up a third to Scapolo in the Poverty Bay Cup.
