Shaune Ritchie hopes a gear change will give Devise an added edge in Thursday week's Gr.3 Little Avondale Lowland Stakes at Hastings.
"I'll put the side winkers on her and hopefully that sharpens her up even more," he said.
Devise finished third behind the Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman-trained pair of Bonneval and Nicoletta in the Gr.2 Sir Tristram Fillies' Classic last time out.
She will renew her rivalry with them at Hawke's Bay and then again in the Gr.1 Wellfield New Zealand Oaks.
"They beat Devise fair and square at Te Rapa and they look the top three fillies for the Oaks," Ritchie said. "I've just got to find a bit more from my filly to beat them."
