Chancery earned a reprieve when he came off an unplaced run to beat a competitive line-up of Rating 65 milers at Te Aroha last time out.
"He was on a sackable offence before he won – we just wish there was more racing at Te Aroha, he loves it there," said Haunui Stud's Mark Chitty, who bred and has retained an ownership interest in the son of Makfi.
"It was a handy field with Fashionably and Night's Watch and he got interfered with twice. He was strong on the line and it was a super ride from Alysha (Collett)."
The Moira and Kieran Murdoch-trained Chancery will make his next appearance at Ellerslie on the second day of the Auckland Cup carnival.
