The flourishing partnership between jockey Adam Hyeronimus and smart galloper Ecuador (NZ) (High Chaparral) will face its toughest test in Saturday's Gr.1 CF Orr Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield.
Hyeronimus and Ecuador have combined seven times for five wins but the pair have teamed up in terrific fashion in recent months with their reunion yielding four wins from five attempts.
Ecuador will return to Group One racing for the first time since he failed in last year's Doncaster Mile when he steps out in the A$400,000 feature.
"He's racing in career-best form. He has probably beaten mediocre fields but has beaten them with big weights and done it quite convincingly," Hyeronimus said.
"I know he's seven but at the same time, even at trackwork, he knows how to look after himself and I just try to do the right things to keep him happy," Hyeronimus said.
"I ride him how he comes to me and not push him or pull him to do things he's not meant to do and just ride the race as it comes and it has worked out perfectly in recent times."
"At the end of the day, I've drawn awkwardly alley but I'll just ride how the race comes to me and make my decision from there," Hyeronimus said.
