Cha Siu Bao continues to fuel his connections' confidence in his ability to master 2400 metres.
The Gr.1 Vodafone New Zealand Derby contender boosted his classic prospects with his last-start fourth in the Gr.2 Waikato Guineas at Te Rapa.
"He ran the second fastest last 600 behind the winner without getting clear galloping room and he's a horse that likes to be in the open," said Andrew Scott, who trains the three-year-old with Lance O'Sullivan.
"The way he rounded off strongly showed a bit further shouldn't be a problem for him. He'll go to the Avondale Guineas next for another look around Ellerslie."
