The Glisten has been tipped as her stable's best representative at Ascot Park on Wednesday.
On a family day for her connections in more ways than one, the Darci Brahma three-year-old is expected to go close to opening her account in the NZB Insurance Pearl Series Race.
The Glisten is one of three daughters of The Freckle who will be in action at the Southland meeting for the training partnership of Robert Dennis, his father Tony, and his uncles Joe, Martin and Ray.
"She's the best in ability, although The Style will be a chance as well - she's improving - and The Cover Girl won't be out of it either with a bit of luck," Robert Dennis said.
"I've liked The Glisten the whole way through and her work has been good. She was unlucky last time – she jumped out and another horse ran into her and she copped a nasty whack on her shin.
"It was a very good effort to finish fifth and in her first run she was ridden upside down when she went to the front."
Chris Johnson's riding style is expected to suit The Glisten, who will appreciate the step up to 1400 metres.
Dennis has also taken on a new role as a vendor and for the first time he will be selling at the upcoming NZB South Island Sale on April 21 under the family's Ravelston Stud banner.
"Ravelston was one of the first horses my grandfather Harold raced and that's the banner we sell under and the fillies race under," he said.
"I've got a Gallant Guru colt out of The Gem, a Gallant Guru filly out of The Freckle and the pick of them is a Rock 'N' Pop filly out of The Glitter." – NZ Racing Desk.
