Lot 420 Savabeel - Spending colt

Success with the progeny of top stallion Savabeel was one of the critical factors in the decision of well known former trainer Peter Moody to up the ante in the latter stages of day two at the NZB national Yearling Sale at Karaka.
Moody had been active throughout the two days of the Premier session however Lot 420, the Savabeel colt from Pins mare Spending consigned through the powerful Waikato Stud draft got the competitive juices flowing as he headed off all competition with a final bid of $600,000.
From the extended family of stakes performers Splashing Out, Shopaholic and Waikato's newest resident stallion in Sacred Falls, the colt was a standout to Moody's eye.
"He's a quality colt with a pedigree to match," he said.

"We've had plenty of luck with the Savabeel's and as a sire he's doing the business in our markets. This is the sale you come to for the top middle distance types and he looks to fit that mould perfectly."
Moody's most recent taste of Savabeel success is with outstanding three-year-old filly Nurse Kitchen who hasn't been seen since a stunning victory at Group Two level back in October.
Moody, who bred and races the filly with his wife Sarah, is looking forward to seeing her back on the track in the very near future.
"She's ready to trial for the first time in a new preparation so she is likely to step out at Cranbourne next Tuesday," he advised.
"At this stage she will have her first run back in The Vanity at Flemington on the 18th of February. After that we will sit down and work out whether we target the Australian Guineas or we look to take her to Sydney instead." - NZ Racing Desk
