David Greene is still none the wiser after Stolen Dance's out of character performance at Trentham.
The Te Rapa trainer has found nothing amiss with his stable star in the wake of her ninth placing in Saturday's Gr.1 Thorndon Mile.
"She was fine after the race and a little bit stiff this (Monday) morning after the trip away, but that was to be expected," Greene said.
"She was loaded into the gates first, which is a change for her and she just didn't get away – she seemed to lose interest and she was very disappointing. We'll continue to monitor her over the next couple of days."
Greene said he couldn't fault Stolen Dance, who had finished in the money in four of her previous five outings in Group One company, going into the Thorndon and he was prepared to forgive and forget.
"All we can do is turn the page, although if she were to perform like that again then she may have had her time.
"Everything going into the race was great and we really expected her to run well.
"We'll press on and run her in the Herbie Dyke and hopefully the Te Rapa factor can spring her back to form."
Stolen Dance has three wins, including the Gr.2 Cal Isuzu Stakes and two placings, one in the Herbie Dyke Stakes 12 months ago, from five appearances on her home patch. – NZ Racing Desk.
